Tornado in Sydney and New South Wales Brought a Lot of Damage on October, 14

Tornado in Sydney and New South Wales

On the evening of October 14, the government agencies’ forecast of a tornado came true. A strong storm with a speed of 56 miles per hour, heavy rainfalls, a hail of about 2.0-2.4 inches, and floods caused catastrophic losses to thousands of people. Throughout the evening, the emergency services received calls for help from different parts of Sydney, New South Wales, and the surrounding area. According to a preliminary report, the tornado did not kill a single life, but many houses were torn off roofs, cars were overturned, trees fell, which partially caused the blackout. Many shops and shopping centers were unexpectedly flooded and people had to be urgently evacuated. The damage assessment is still underway by the authorities, but groups of volunteers have already been assembled to clean the streets from the destruction caused by the tornado and to accommodate the evacuees whose homes have been destroyed.
