A Rare Double Rainbow Appear over Indian Cities after the Storm

The rainfall brought some relief after the gruelingly high temperatures from which the residents have been suffering from the past few days. As previously reported, a 50-degree heatwave hit India.

With the continuing coronavirus outbreak and the earthquake that scared people, the double rainbow was seen as a good sign. Social media users shared many pictures of the spectacular event.

Meteorologists explained that during this event a weak secondary rainbow appears above the main one. The double rainbow is caused by the re-reflection of light inside the rain droplets, while the second reflection changes the spectrum of the upper rainbow to the opposite. Red is on the inside of the arc and purple is on the outside. The whole sequence of colors of the secondary rainbow is repeated in reverse order.
